AU PAIR PROGRAMS


There are three basic au pair programs, the standard program for au pairs taking care of children, a program for au pairs caring for infants younger than 2 years old but older than 3 months old, and a program for au pairs taking care of school aged children. Each program has different components for childcare and au pair study.

AU PAIR PROGRAM

In the standard au pair program, the au pair provides up to 45 hours of childcare services weekly to the host family for children over 2 years of age. In this program, the au pair can only work a maximum of 10 hours in one day, but not more than 45 hours in one week. A requirement for the au pair in this program is a minimum of 200 hours of documented childcare experience with children over 2 years old. 

In the standard au pair program, the au pair must study at least 6 units at an accredited post-secondary institution in the U.S. The host family will contribute up to $500 towards  the au pair's educational expenses.

The au pair will receive $195.75 per week as a stipend for childcare services.

EDUCARE PROGRAM

In the Educare au pair program, the au pair provides up to 30 hours of childcare services weekly before school an/or after school to the host family for children that are full time students. The au pair may not work more than 10 hours in any given day or 30 hours in any given week. The au pair must have 200 hours of documented childcare experience with school-aged children.

In the Educare au pair program, the au pair must study at least 12 units at an accredited post-secondary institution in the U.S. The host family will contribute up to $1,000 towards  the au pair's educational expenses.

The au pair will receive $146.81 per week as a stipend for childcare services.

INFANT CARE PROGRAM

In the Infant Care au pair program, the au pair provides up to 45 hours of childcare services weekly to the host family for children that are between 3 months and 2 years of age. The au pair may not work more than 10 hours in any given day or 45 hours in any given week. The au pair must have 200 hours of documented childcare experience with children between 3 months and 2 years of age.

In the Educare au pair program, the au pair must study at least 6 units at an accredited post-secondary institution in the U.S. The host family will contribute up to $500 towards  the au pair's educational expenses.

The au pair will receive $195.75 per week as a stipend for infantcare services.
